Livingston-James/Plum Ridge Project Updates

The Livingston-James project areas comprise 4,701 acres located in central-east Columbus. This has been identified as a Blueprint priority area due to a high number of basement backups that are clustered throughout the project area. The sanitary sewer overflow associated with this area occurs in a main sewer line, and must be addressed through system-wide improvements.

Project Area

The Livingston-James and Plum Ridge areas are divided into six Blueprint Neighborhoods:

Livingston-James & Plum Ridge Project Schedule

Phase 1

Surveying: 2019

Surveyors are in the neighborhood to document water flow patterns, topography, existing utilities, and other residential infrastructure, such as downspouts.

Phase 2

Green Infrastructure Design: 2021

The engineering team identifies the types and locations of green infrastructure that will meet the needs of the neighborhood. During the design phase, we seek resident feedback through surveys, public meetings, and field visits.

Phase 3

Sump Pump Installations Begin: 2022

Homeowners can sign up to have a sump pump installed in their home, free of charge. Sump pumps keep stormwater away from the home’s foundation and out of the sanitary sewer.

Green Infrastructure Construction: 2025

Rain gardens and porous pavement sites are installed. During this time other city infrastructure work may occur, such as waterline upgrades or sidewalk installations.

Lateral Lining and Roofwater Redirection: 2029

Individual homes are assessed for lateral lining and roofwater redirection. These home improvements prevent stormwater from entering the sanitary sewer lines by getting that water away from your home and out to the street, so it can drain to the storm sewer system
