Rain garden maintenance Summer 2026 status: A record-setting amount of rainfall through May led to incredible growth across Columbus. While we’re thrilled to see lush plants, conditions require maintenance teams to spend extra time at each basin visit trimming and maintaining existing native vegetation. All Blueprint rain gardens are maintained monthly. You can learn more about the maintenance program HERE

Surveying starts 2034. More information will be available then!

Surveyors are in the neighborhood to document water flow patterns, topography, existing utilities, and other residential infrastructure, such as downspouts.

The engineering team identifies the types and locations of green infrastructure that will meet the needs of the neighborhood. During the design phase, we seek resident feedback through surveys, public meetings, and field visits.

Construction of green infrastructure involves work in the public right-of-way and street. All neighborhood residents will be notified of anticipated impacts, and Blueprint will send out weekly construction updates to keep everyone informed of the schedule and activities.
Learn MoreRain gardens and porous pavement sites are installed. During this time other city infrastructure work may occur, such as waterline upgrades or sidewalk installations.
This mainline lining (work to seal the main sewer lines on your streets) directly reduces water infiltration and inflow (I/I) into sanitary sewers. Over time, pipes can develop cracks and leaks, allowing rainwater to enter sanitary sewers, filling them beyond their capacity. Overwhelming the system can create a sewage overflow into rivers or back-ups into basements. The lining process quickly replaces an old pipe with minimal impact within the construction area.
Individual homes are assessed for lateral lining and roofwater redirection. These home improvements prevent stormwater from entering the sanitary sewer lines by getting that water away from your home and out to the street, so it can drain to the storm sewer system
All homes in the project area are eligible to receive a sump pump if residents do not have one, or if the current pump is in disrepair. Visit our sump pump project page to learn more.
