General Updates

  • The Department of Public Service reports that progress on reconstruction and paving of some Clintonville streets has been disrupted early by cold, wet weather. This has pushed completion of the streets into the 2019 construction season. The streets will be maintained to be passable and usable this winter.
  • Inlet protections for storm sewer inlets will remain during active construction. Please do not tamper with or remove them, they are required construction site controls to keep sediment and debris from the construction activities out of the storm sewer. Newly constructed rain garden inlets are also initially blocked with straw waddles to allow the plants to get established and stabilized before becoming fully functional.
  • The rain gardens are designed to drain in 48 hours or less. Some standing water within the garden after a rain event is normal. However, if the rain gardens are overflowing or have standing water for more than 2 days, please report that to blueprint@columbus.gov.
  • Just like a normal storm drain, the rain gardens can’t do their job if leaves are piling up and blocking water from entering the inlet. Our crews will clear these inlets during regular maintenance, but if you see leaves piling up and blocking the rain garden inlets, feel free to push them aside to allow rain water to enter. And, as always, remember to keep leaves and yard waste out of the streets as much as possible.

 

Schreyer Springs

  • Facemeyer will be onsite regularly to maintain the rain gardens.
  • Facemeyer will not be onsite the week of January 14-18, 2019.  They will resume the installation of stone walls around the rain gardens on January 21 and will continue street by street until Spring 2019. The next street will be Colerain.  Sod will be placed, and final restoration will occur in Spring of 2019. Residents who will be impacted by this work have been contacted. All work is weather dependent, and the schedule will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Private property investigations for downspout redirection and lateral lining for this area will begin Spring 2019. Residents will receive a letter when this area is “activated”.

Weisheimer Indian Springs

  • Igel will be installing downspouts on Sellers Ave. and Village Dr.
  • Igel will also continue property evaluations/inspections on Cooke Rd. and E. Weisheimer Rd
  • BLD, the crew conducting the lateral line work, will be lining the laterals on Fairlawn Dr.., Weisheimer Rd., Schreyer Pl., and Village Dr.

Blenheim Glencoe

  • The rain gardens and plantings are now complete.
  • Eramo will not be on site on January 14 due to an all-company meeting.  There will be two crews working in the project area the rest of the week.
  • Crew 1 will continue making modifications and repairs to rain gardens on Foster and Sharon to address the drainage issues.
  • Crew 2 will be working on the waterline on Dunedin.
  • Additional evaluations of curbs are being conducted in conjunction with repaving plans.
  • Private property investigations for downspout redirection and lateral lining for this area will begin Summer 2019. Residents will receive a letter when this area is “activated”.

Overbrook Chatham

  • There will be no crews working in this area.
  • Reflectors/Delineaters will be placed on the bump outs to aid in night-time visibility.
  • Private property investigations for downspout redirection and lateral lining for this area will begin early 2019. Residents will receive a letter when this area is “activated”.

Cooke Glenmont

  • Private property investigations for downspout redirection and lateral lining for this area will begin early 2019. Residents will receive a letter when this area is “activated”.

Morse Dominion

  • There will be no green infrastructure work taking place in this area.
  • Lateral cleaning and inspections will continue in the alley between Morse Rd. and Jeffery Pl.
  • OBA will be completing investigations on E. Royal Forest Blvd and will then be moving to E. Jeffery Pl. to conduct downspout investigations.
